About Annadel Press
Nestled adjacent to the eastern edge of the town of Santa Rosa, California, lies a 5,000 acre wilderness of oak woodlands, intermittant streams, and wildflower-covered meadows called Annadel State Park. Formerly home to cattle ranching operations and cobblestone quarries, it is now preserved in an undeveloped state accessible only via dirt hiking trails. Hikers, joggers, equestrians, photographers, mountain bikers, and many other outdoor enthusiasts come here to enjoy welcome relief from the bustle of nearby civilization.
Annadel Press, located in nearby Santa Rosa, was founded in 1995. Dedicated to producing books related to outdoor and historical topics, it was natural to draw inspiration from this suburban wilderness park for our name. Our first book, Colonel James Armstrong and his Redwood Park, produced in collaboration with the Stewards of Slavianka (now Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods, a California State Parks Cooperating Association), was a history of Armstrong Redwoods State Park. The collaboration continued with the publication of Guide to State Parks of the Sonoma Coast and Russian River in 1998. Our most recent book, Outdoor Navigation with GPS, is an outgrowth of the courses in GPS navigation that author Stephen W. Hinch has taught for Santa Rosa Junior College since 1998.
